Endura ventures off road with Kankku offering style and safety to its off road vehicles

Kankku, the North of England’s leading off road adventure company, has chosen to fit the revolutionary Endura Frontal Protection System (FPS) to its off road vehicles, offering style and vehicle protection in extreme driving conditions whilst also making its vehicles up to 50 times safer for pedestrians and cyclists when driving in urban areas.

“Every day of the year, a Kankku 4x4 goes out to tackle some of the roughest and toughest off road trails in the country, but although 80% of the time a Kankku vehicle will be 'off road' where the ruggedness of the iconic Defender and Shogun comes into its own, about 80% of the mileage of each vehicle is clocked up 'on road'. This is when style and safety must combine to smooth over the aggression of the Kankku machine. Safety comes first at Kankku, so we have fitted Endura Frontal Protection systems on all of our vehicles” said Nick Fieldhouse, Managing Director, Kankku.

Automotive and Endura manufacturer Concept Mouldings (www.conceptmouldings.co.uk), has shown, through years of work, that the use of energy absorbing structures dramatically reduces the risk of serious injury to vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists. It has now completed in excess of 200 simulated vehicle to pedestrian impact tests at the Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA).

Recent testing on a typical 4x4 (2003 model) fitted with an Endura FPS reduces the risk of head injury from over 97 per cent in the worst case down to less than 2 per cent. The risk of injury to the pelvic and abdomen, upper leg and lower leg is also substantially reduced. All EC approved test data and video footage can be viewed at www.frontalprotectionsystems.eu. The new Endura FPS (text) is now available for a wide range of 4x4s, SUVs and LCVs including popular brands such as Toyota, Land Rover, Volkswagen, Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Ford.

“Over recent months, there has been much publicity on the safety benefits Endura has to offer - making 4x4s, SUVs and LCVs up to 50 times safer for the vulnerable road user. With an off road adventure company choosing to fit Endura, this not only highlights the safety benefits but also the rugged protection Endura offers to large, 4x4 vehicles. Fitting Endura will reduce vehicle damage when involved in collisions with tree branches and brush and also when travelling through water at high speeds” said Ian Finney, Managing Director, Concept Mouldings.

For companies who operate a number of vehicles, day to day accidents cause a number of direct and hidden costs, such as vehicle repair, replacement and lost productivity. However, companies will now be able to meet corporate social responsibility goals by doing everything they can to make its vehicles safer for vulnerable road users and start saving lives, gain a spin off benefit of reducing vehicle damage and related costs and also reducing insurance claims and time off the road.
