Fleet drivers can now meet social responsibility goals and start saving lives today

The new Endura Frontal Protection System (FPS) has been tested and proven to make fleet vehicles up to 50 times safer for vulnerable road users such as children. In the event of a front end collision, the FPS significantly reduces the risk of injury or death for all pedestrians and cyclists.

Testing on a wide range of vehicles (including those made as far back as 1991) has shown impressive results for a reduced risk of injury to vulnerable road users when an Endura FPS is fitted. Testing on a typical 2005 LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle), in line with recent EU legislation for Frontal Protection Systems has demonstrated that the latest Endura FPS model reduces the risk of head injury from over 97 per cent in the worst case down to less than 1 per cent. Risk of injury to the pelvic and abdomen, upper leg and lower leg is also substantially reduced.

Concept Mouldings sets its sights on saloon vehicles for its new Endura safety system at Automechanika launch

Concept Mouldings which recently launched a range of energy absorbing aftermarket frontal protection systems has shown how this technology could be integrated into new vehicle designs at Automechanika.

The basis of the new system is a plastic, energy absorbing barrier between the pedestrian and hard parts at the front of the vehicle such as the bonnet leading edge, the radiator and the engine. Tests on the aftermarket Endura Frontal Protection System conducted at MIRA have already shown that the risk of pedestrian injury can be reduced by up to fifty times on many large vehicles.

Revolutionary breakthrough makes the 4x4 50 times safer for the pedestrian

The new Endura Frontal Protection System (FPS) produced by Concept Mouldings (www.conceptmouldings.co.uk) can make 4x4s up to 50 times safer in the event of a front-end collision with a child. Benchmark tests carried out at MIRA (one of Europe’s leading vehicle design, development and certification centres) have proved that with an Endura FPS fitted, the risk of head injury reduces from over 98 per cent in the worst case down to less than 2 per cent. Children typically incur Head injuries from fronts of vehicles and these often prove to be fatal. Risk of injury to the Abdomen, upper leg and lower leg are also substantially reduced.

Pedestrians to be the focus for safer vehicle fronts

Following dramatic improvements for car occupant safety, European legislators are now making vehicles and accessories safer for pedestrians. From May 2007 Frontal Protection Systems (FPS) will need type approval and will be required to pass strict tests for pedestrian safety which will be impossible for old style metal bull bars to pass. The only qualifying products will then be energy absorbing products which will actually make the vehicles safer. Similar legislation for the vehicles themselves is likely to follow after 2010.
